Results and Discussion Example
Results In this analysis we utilized paper chromatography to decide the measure of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, xanthophyll, and beta-carotene in a container of mixed leaf extricate. We recorded our discoveries on the table named table 1. Table 1 shows the transmittance at every frequency on a table from 400 to 720. The data on Figure 1 originated from the leaf extricate on the paper chromatography that we utilized; with the assistance of CH3)2CO we saw the range and the distinctions of the diverse pigments.Percentage transmittance in Table 1 show that the lower the number, the more thick that arrangement is at that particular frequency. As the numbers get higher, the less thick it is and in the event that the number is 100 at a particular frequency, at that point the arrangement was clear. As should be obvious from Table 1, every one of the shades had diverse low transmittance dependent on how high the ingestion was in every one of the colors. For this we determined that at there w as a top on the diagram at the bottommost extremes in table 1.For occasion, in the chlorophyll a segment in Table 1 the bottommost extremes on the charts at 8 and 28 and furthermore at 44, which shows that there will be a top around those focuses. In chlorophyll b, the bottommost extremes are from 25. 2, 12. 4, and 9. 4, which would be the main pinnacle and the following will be at 55. 6. In Xanthophyll, the focuses were the primary pinnacle will be are 52. 4, 43. 6, 44. 8, and 53. 0. In conclusion in Carotene, the chart will top at 92. 2, 93. 6, and 92. 4. By utilizing these focuses we anticipated the conduct of the graph.TABLE 1| | Wavelength| Chlorophyll a| Chlorophyll b| Xanthophyll| Carotene| 400| 12| 42| 61. 8| 96. 8| 420| 8| 25. 2| 52. 4| 99. 6| 440| 28| 12. 4| 43. 6| 92. 2| 460| 71. 5| 9. 4| 44. 8| 93. 6| 480| 81| 48. 4| 53| 92. 4| 500| 88| 88. 6| 83. 2| 99. 2| 520| 88| 91. 4| 94. 2| 100| 540| 84. 5| 87. 4| 95. 6| 100| 560| 83| 85. 2| 96. 4| 99. 2| 580| 71. 5| 83. 4| 96. 2| 100| 600| 72. 5| 76. 8| 96| 100| 620| 61. 5| 78. 2| 94. 4| 100| 640| 61. 5| 59. 6| 94. 6| 100| 660| 44| 55. 6| 93. 2| 100| 680| 48. 8| 67. 8| 92. 6| 99. 8| 700| 64. 6| 60| 91. 4| 92. 8| 720| 50. 6| 52. 4| 89| - |On the chart marked Figure 1, it shows the absorbance of every one of the shades that are appeared in Table 1. The contrast between Table 1 and Figure 1 is that where table 1 shows the transmittance purposes of every frequency of each shade, Figure 1 shows the assimilation pinnacles of every one of the frequencies. For chlorophyll a, the most noteworthy pinnacles are at 420, however then the chart dives at around 450 and has another top somewhere in the range of 650 and 700. For chlorophyll b, the most noteworthy pinnacles of absorbance are somewhere in the range of 450 and 500 then it makes a major fall around 500 and has another top somewhere in the range of 640 and 660.For Xanthophyll, the main pinnacle is somewhere in the range of 420 and 480, at that point the diagram a s insignificant development from that point and remains in the 90 territory failing to hit 100. In conclusion, beta-carotene has little tops at 440 and 460 and afterward the chart remains practically stale at 100. Conversation The reason for this test was to discover why the leaves on a tree changed shading in the fall. We anticipated that the particles in the leaves of the tree ascribed to the change. We discovered that the atoms: Chlorophyll a, Chlorophyll b, Xanthophyll, and Beta-carotene are the principle particles that dwell in a leaf.We likewise expressed that the tree ingests the components found in a portion of these particles with the goal that they can be utilized in the spring, when the trees are green again. This forecast originated from when we examined the sub-atomic organization of every one of the particles and associated the outcomes the analysis and the particular components that the tree would have required for one more year. The consequences of this investigation show that at there is less chlorophyll an and chlorophyll b in the organization of the leaves that were used. This implied that when the season is changing, the atoms in these structures begin to be assimilated once again into the tree. This end originated from the way that in table 1 from 420 and 440 Nano meters there was a low transmittance pace of these two atoms, which implies that the absorbance rate was high. Throughout the fall season there isn't sufficient daylight for the trees to perform photosynthesis to make their own food, what a plant needs to endure would be the Magnesium and Nitrogen that are found in the atomic structures of chlorophyll an and b.Therefore they retain these supplements that the tree needs to endure with the goal that they can make it intensive the winter. Blunders could have been made with this examination. Some of them remember that the people for various gatherings didn't have a similar control as the others. We didn't gauge a similar measure of CH 3)2CO in every vial nor did we measure the amount of the leaf extraction every individual utilized. Another wellspring of mistake would be the way the spectrometer was utilized, on the off chance that it was reset the equivalent at every frequency each time.Compared to past trials the data that was gathered in this one was exact. The tops for each color were generally around a similar frequency. The standard for chlorophyll a was tops at 430 and 662, chlorophyll b tops at 453 and 642, xanthophyll a range from 450 to 550 and for the beta-carotene tops at a range from 450 to 550. Our outcomes were generally around equivalent to you can see from Table 1. The final product of the examination was effective, in view of the outcomes that we created were like the consequences of past tests.

Drugs And Treatment Of Diabetes Health And Social Care Essay Free Essays
There are two sorts of diabetes: type I Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus ( IDDM ) and adolescent approaching diabetes. It is brought about via immune system obliteration of Isles of Langerhans of pancreas. Type II: Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus ( NIDDM ) and enormous approaching diabetes. We will compose a custom exposition test on Medications And Treatment Of Diabetes Health And Social Care Essay or then again any comparable point just for you Request Now It happens over 40 mature ages old enough and go progressively regular with expanding age. Type II diabetes is more typical than type I. It incorporates around 90 for every centum of whole cases. It changes inside and among states and expanding all through the universe. Familial constituent plays a significant guideline in type II diabetes than type I diabetes. Indistinguishable twins are considerably more inclined to type II diabetes than type I. On the off chance that male parent or female parent has type II the chance of illness in kids is 7-14 for each centum. On the off chance that the two guardians have type II diabetes so the chance of ailment augmentations to 45 for every centum. Practically all patients who are holding type II is are symptomless. Different patients show manifestations like hyperglycaemia and vascular surrender. Previous Treatments In mid seventeenth century a London specialist, Dr. Thomas Wills, affirms diabetes by attempting his patient ââ¬Ës piss. He determined his patients to have diabetes mellitus, if the piss had a sweet gustatory sensation and he called it as ââ¬Ëhoneyed diabetes ââ¬Ë . Checking of glucose degrees by this strategy for the most part unaltered until twentieth century. In 1921, sawbones Frederick Banting, his aide Charles Best extricated insulin. They directed the removed insulin to Leonard Thompson, a juvenile male youngster passing of diabetes, with help of Dr. Collip and Dr. Macleod. Inside a twenty-four hours, Leonard ââ¬Ës unsafely high blood sugars had come to ordinary degrees. This find is cardinal segment in diabetes history. In 1936 PZI, longer moving insulin was made. In 1952 Lente, which contains high degrees of Zn, propelling the more drawn out duration of activity was imagined. In 1950, unwritten prescriptions sulfonylureas were produced for the individuals with type II diabetes. These medications animate the pancreas to deliver more insulin, helping individuals with type II diabetes keep up more tightly authority over their glucose degrees ( Diabetes Health, 1996 ) . The individual use syringe was presented in 1961 by Becton-Dickinson. This decreased the entirety of harming from infusions each piece great as the clasp devouring of bubbling acerate leafs and glass panpipes. The principal convenient glucose meter was made in 1969 by Ames Diagnostics. Diabetes Health board part Dr. Richard Bernstein, in his book titled Diabetes Type II, Including Type I, delineate his first Ames meter: ââ¬Å" In October of 1969, I went over an advertizement for another gadget to help exigency suites recognize oblivious diabetics and oblivious rummies when the examination labs were shut at darkâ⬠¦ The instrument had a four-inch galvanometer with a beady bearing, gauged three lbs â⬠( Diabetes Health, 1996 ) . New engineerings adjusted the size of glucose meters to the size of reckoners. Insulin siphons were planned according to the natural structure ââ¬Ës ordinary arrival of insulin in 1979. It siphons insulin using a little acerate leaf which is embedded into covering. Be that as it may, it had no power per unit region convenience trademark, so the clients got terrible harming. To maintain a strategic distance from this stinging Derata discharged present day needle free injectors holding customizable power per unit territory called Derma-Ject which are similarly torment free. The hemoglobin A1c preliminary was contrived in 1979 so as to make a progressively exact glucose estimating. With the A1c, hemoglobin, the oxygen-conveying color in reddish platelets, is utilized to follow glucose changes over a time of four months, the life expectancy of the cell. Hemoglobin joins with the glucose in blood ; the more glucose these days, the more prominent total of hemoglobin connected with glucose. The A1c turned into a standard estimating for glucose control in the thorou gh ten-year overview from 1983 to 1993-the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial ( DCCT ) ( Diabetes Health, 1996 ) . Present Treatment At long last an unwritten medication was affirmed by FDA in 1995 that is Metformin ( biguanides ) . Like other sulfonylurea drugs Glucophage does non increment insulin creation in the natural structure yet it increments musculuss capacity to use insulin. Another medication Precose was affirmed by the individuals with diabetes II. It decreases abrupt ascent in blood glucose degree since it defers the saccharides absorption after a repast. The patients should trust that long clasp will take these sorts of medications in this way, Lispro a quick medication was created which can be taken 15 min before repasts. In ongoing mature ages unwritten hypoglycaemic medications are acceptable being utilized by the patients. Sulfonylureas are the main line of medications like glimepride, gliclazide, Glucotrol. Weight expansion is more with these medications. To maintain a strategic distance from this inconvenience meglitinide matches are inferred, for example, repaglinide, nateglinide. They cause less weight expansion and less unfavorably susceptible than sulfonylureas. Another medication phenformin a biguanide which was ended on the grounds that it causes lactoacidosis and it does non demo any drawn out impacts. Parcel of blend drugs are utilized to deal with insulin restriction. Biguanides can be joined with sulfonylureas, meglitinides and with glitazones to deal with insulin restriction condition. Be that as it may, glitazones shows critical insulin restriction at this clasp portion of sulfonylureas or of insulin ought to be diminished to balance for any upgraded insulin action. Mix treatment of Glucophage and rosiglitazone in patients with type II diabetes mellitus was concentrated to quantify the usefulness of this treatment. This medication mix treatment improved the glycemic control, I? cell activity and insulin affectability all the more strongly contrasted and independently metformin mediation. In some different surveies multi tranquilize blend treatment is utilized which is ternary treatment with glimepiride alongside Glucophage and a thiazolidinedione. This review came about in contrasted with twofold blend of Glucophage and thiazolidinedione. In any case, it shows hypoglycaemia with low risk. With these appraisals we can express that use of unwritten hypoglycaemic medications are extremely normal than some other kind of portion routine. ââ¬ËAnakinra ââ¬Ë the medication which acts an interleukin-1 receptor foe indicated effective decreasing in glycated hemoglobin. It diminished the creation of interleukin-1 I? cells in pancreas of human. In this manner it manages the high blood glucose degrees in the natural structure. New engineerings made extremely a lot simpler in preparing of insulin and their sorts. As of late Inhaled Human Insulin ( Exubera ) was endorsed by EU and US for preprandial use in adult patients with diabetes mellitus. It was acceptable endured and was adequate in patients with type II diabetes mellitus when managed totally or in mix with hostile to hyperglycemic treatment or in blend with basal hypodermic insulin. Breathed in insulin, Exubera had all the earmarks of being strong yet it is non better than infused short moving insulin. It has no drawn out security and is non a cost viable mediation. Research laborers demonstrated inclusion in persistent ââ¬Ës way of life other than. Surveies like control of Lifestyle Over or more Drugs in Diabetes ( LOADD ) recommend that there was an improvement in both anthropometric and glycemic control steps, nutritionary intercession in patients with diabetes mellitus II who are at high peril of cardio vascular illness. FUTURE Treatments Future diabetes mediation is pancreatic cell organ transplant and islets of Langerhans organ transplant. Pancreatic cell organ transplant tests are done in 2009 on monkeys in which two monkeys indicated adequate outcomes and one monkey was kicked the bucket because of dubious causes. Grape natural product fixing is another new creating drug for diabetes primarily for type II. ââ¬ËNaringenin ââ¬Ë compound these days in grape organic product makes the liver to fire fat rather than hive awaying after a repast. Late tests in America using ââ¬Ënaringenin ââ¬Ë are fruitful in mice however non yet in universes. It might be achievement in universes and might be a decent approaching intercession in type II diabetes. ââ¬ËTolrestat ââ¬Ë is another medication using for distending smaller scale vass and increment in tissue perfusion. For the most part sorbitol causes inspissating of film of hairlike endothelium, which prompts narrowing of small scale vass and a reducing in tissue perfusion. STOP-NIDDM tests are finished with acarbose treatment in pre-diabetic cases. It effectively forestalls the figure of new examples by remaking I? cell map. Late surveies demonstrated that ââ¬Ëresistin ââ¬Ë a compound in fat tissue is moving as insulin safe so specific I? 3 agonists are given for beefy patients. Transplant of I? cells and consolidation of insulin cistrons in non I? cell lines are one of the moving toward intercessions for diabetes. Choice The advancements in diabetes consideration ought to go on. Mindfulness ought to be expanded in individuals who are at high danger of the sickness. All the medications which are using have symptoms and lead to inconvenience to the patients. In this foundation, there is request to inquire about treatments from substitute frameworks of clinical strengths, which will be useful, sheltered and great endured. For the past decennaries new clinical claims to fame are found with new engineerings might be in future we can foresee the medication which has no symptoms and cures diabetes. For the clasp now insulin siphons and mix treatments are the best to deal with diabetes. Innovation, Rhyme, and Feel in Robert Pinskys Poetry - Literature Essay Samples
The first U.S. Poet Laureate for three consecutive years (from 1997-2000), Pinsky has succeeded in much more than poetry. In 1984, for example, he was the author of an interactive fiction game called Mindwheel; today, he is the poetry editor for the irreverent online Slate magazine. It is hardly surprising, therefore, that his poetry embraces modern lifeyet remains firmly rooted in a traditional education in poetry and the classics. In The Figured Wheel, for example, Pinskys poetry ranges from a look athi smother to a discussion of psychiatrists. His style, although variable, is readable, and shuns much of the encoding, or deliberately obscure language, of other poets. His poem History of My Heart, for example, begins, One Christmastime Fats Waller in a fur coat Rolled beaming from a taxicab with two pretty girls Each at an arm as he led them in a thick downy snowfall Across Thirty-fourth Street into the busy crowd Shopping at Macys: perfume, holly, snowflake displays. Chimes rang fo r change. In Toys, where my mother worked (Pinsky, 1996, 123)Even in this short excerpt, Pinsky uses a number of poetic devices that deepen the poemyet make it both comprehensive, and conscious of modern life. For example, the unusual choice of the word Rolled instantly gives the reader the feeling of the large man emerging exuberantly into the snow, perhaps with a sense of urgency or inexorability. The capitalization of Thirty-fourth Street, which is unnecessary, gives you a sense of the importance of the time and place. The colon use is unexpected in the Shopping at Macys: line and the colon alerts us that it is announcing what shopping at Macys was about during Christmastime. Chimes rang for change brings up the sound of cash registers ringing and coins rattling, but it can have a different meaning. It can just as well conjure up the image of bell-ringers ringing the changes (each different pattern of bell ringing in a church is called a change) in a cathedral. It is an interes ting image, and in keeping with the festival aura of Christmas with which Pinsky begins this poem. Pinkys style in this collection is generally free verse, with the occasional internal rhyme. However, he does not write in a prose style. With the use of inversion, parallel constructions, allusions, and poetic language Pinsky makes it clear what he is writing is a poem, not a prose-poem, or a poem trying to sound like prose. The poem Ode to Meaning (which is an example of his wide-ranging subject matter this is concerned with a philosophical questioning of symbols) shows how his poetry is not necessarily strictly metered or rhymed (the feet of the lines vary 4, 3, 3, 5, 5, 3), but still very musical and poetic. You also in the laughter, warrior angel; Your helmet the zodiac, rocket-plumed Your spear the beggars finger pointing to the mouth Your heel planted on the serpent Formulation Your face a vapor, the wreath of cigarette smoke crowning Bogart as he winces through it (Strand and Boland, 253)He uses anaphora, like the Bible, to make the lines ring together, and it makes the large amount of information passed in this one stanza easier to digest and understand. His exploration of images and symbols continues to the end of the poem: Dire one, Desired one. Savior, sentencer Absence, Or presence ever at play: Let those scorn you who never Starved in your dearth. If I Dare to disparage Your harp of shadows I taste Wormwood and motor oil, I pour Ashes on my head. You are the wound. You Be the medicine. (Strand and Boland, 254)Pinsky, it is clear, has a distinct ear for language. In one of his books of criticism, The Sounds of Poetry, he writes, The medium of poetry is the human body: the column of air inside the chest, shaped into signifying sounds in the larynx and the mouth. In this sense, poetry is as physical or bodily an art as dancing (Summary, Pinsky, 1998). Pinsky believes that poetry is to be experienced aurally. In this, he is harkening back to the origins poetry, when it was only an oral art. Despite the modern roots of Pinskys poetry, many of his other works show that he clearly hails from a poetic, classical background. For example, his translation of Dantes Inferno is tackled in its entirety, both English and Italian, but Pinsky resists the original Italian convention of terza rima; as he explains, triple rhyming is extremely difficult in English. He rejects the terza rima, and instead translates the entire poem in a rhyming convention of like sounds. He writes,This translation rejects that solution and instead makes a more flexible definition of rhyme, or of the kind and degree of like sound that constitute rhyme. But on the other hand, I have not accepted just any similar sounds as rhyming: the translation is based on a fairly systematic rhyming norm that defines rhyme as the same consonant-sounds-however much the vowels may differ-at the ends of words. He gives examples tell/feel/well and sleep/stop/up (Pinsky, 199 4, xix). In this, Robert Pinsky is innovating into a new kind of rhyme, or at least referring back to an old form (consonance (Abrams 9) repetition of a sequence of two or more consonants, but with a change in the intervening vowel) and then restricting it to the ending consonant In this, he is fulfilling what he said, when commenting on Landors poetry One can be an innovator, by reviving, adapting and developing traditional forms, quite as much as by invention (Schmidt 388-389). Pinsky did not invent a completely new kind of rhyme for his translation of the Inferno, but he has made the sound of it uniquely his own, and adapted it well to the English language. For example, he writes, My teaching; He who made all of Heavens features In His transcendent wisdom gave them guides So each part shines on all the others, all natures Illumination apportioned. So too, for goods Of worldly splendor He assigned a guide And minister she, when time seems proper spreads (Pinsky, 1994, 57) The like sounds of features/natures, goods/spreads, plus the repetition of guide/guides gives the stanzas a feeling of unity and musicality, without the hard rhymes which he explains in his Translators note (xix) that he dislikes so much. This is a novel innovation, and to modern ears sounds more poetic and less conversational than blank verse, but also lacks the sing-songiness that direct and hard rhymes have come to mean in our day and age The enjambment, even across stanzas, is common in his Inferno and his own poetry works, such as History of My Heart (see above). It is curious, perhaps, that Pinsky would choose such extreme enjambment, which would seem to suggest fragmentation of thought. Actually it is part of his innovation against the singsonginess and end-stopped conventionality of old forms. This enjambment leaves Pinsky free to make his like-sound rhymes, but doesnt limit his thoughts to the limit of his line, whatever its length. Wormwood and motor oil an old substance and a new one perhaps give some clue to what Robert Pinskys poetry is all about. His new poetry is accessible and engaging, without being overly simple or trite. His translations are dense, but poetic and light-hearted, even with serious subject matter. He chose a huge work, and a seven-centuries-old one, in Dantes Inferno, but he makes the conversations and the descriptions sound both full of poetic gravitas and a modern feel. Thus, the Poet Laureate has managed to make the old new, and bring a kind of rhyme back into poetry that feels poetic without sounding false or old-fashioned.Works CitedAbrams, M. H. (2005). A Brief Note On Golfs Environmental Impact - 1793 Words
Under Par: Golf s Environmental Impact Owners of golf courses are currently facing challenges which threaten their very existence. Whether it is from a dwindling participation rate, water shortages, or environmental concerns due to fertilizer and pesticide runoff, courses must adapt their strategy for a new reality. It is clear from statistics that participation in golf is dwindling which will threaten the existence of golf courses. Coupled with an increased awareness of the impact on the environment, this could prove to be an insurmountable obstacle if golf courses are not quick to adapt. In states such as California and Texas, drought conditions have forced communities to look at the significant water usage of golf courses in order to reduce unnecessary consumption. Another significant cause for concern is the effect of pesticide and fertilizer runoff on the local watershed. Clearly there are very real and sometimes devastating effects when the pesticides and fertilizers used by golf courses find their way into unintend ed areas such as lakes, rivers and ponds. However, it is not all bad news for golf courses. There are positive environmental impacts such as preserving a home for birds and other animals, reducing urban sprawl, and the growth of vegetation and trees. These challenges facing golf course owners are very real, and in order to continue to attract players and avoid costly legislation, golf courses must embrace water conservation efforts, reduce their release of
Describe The Factors To Consider When Promoting Effective Communication free essay sample
However this would not be suitable in a situation whereby a resident is upset say for example if they have wet themselves and are embarrassed, this would need a quieter and understanding tone to reassure them. Use of language is important, when talking to residents you need to keep things simpler than if you were walking residents without dementia, however if youââ¬â¢re talking to an adult using very simple instructions this may be deemed as patronising, so it is important to choose your language carefully. The speed in which you talk is also key. When talking to residents I tend to get down to their level if they are in a sitting position and talk to them at a relatively slow speed, this way they are more likely to understand me more than if I was walking round above them talking. Non-verbal communication: Facial and hand gestures, again this needs to be tailored to the situation or topic. We will write a custom essay sample on Describe the Factors to Consider When Promoting Effective Communication or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page In the example above, a smil and perhaps a hand on their shoulder is sufficient to the situation. Where by frowning and waving arms as if annoyed would be detrimental to the feelings of the resident. Eye contact is an important factor as this engages the audience, keeping them focused on what you are discussing. By making eye contact you are directing your conversation at that specific person, demonstrating that you are devoting your time and are not able to be distracted as if you would by looking around. Body language plays an important part, for example folded arms can indicate you are being defensive or not open to suggestions, whereas slouching, hands on hips, rolling of eyes and huffing can seem rude and disrespectful. It is always advisable to evaluate a number of factors before communicating information: What is the information I need to communicate? Who is my audience? Is written or verbal the best form of communication? What is the best time of day, in the morning or afternoon. Where should the communication take place, would it be appropriate to talk within ear reach of others or is the matter sensitive, therefore needing privacy. By considering the above, you are demonstrating professionalism and considering the needs of others.

Masque Of The Red Death Essays - The Masque Of The Red Death
Masque Of The Red Death In Edgar Allen Poe's story "The Masque of the Red Death", he uses symbolism of the rooms, time, and the red death to portray his theme that no one can escape death. The masque was held in Prince Prospero's imperial suite that consisted of seven different and symbolic rooms. The fact that there where seven rooms was symbolic in itself. Many believe that the world was created in seven days. It was also said that there are seven stages in a person's life. I think Poe used the number of rooms in accordance with the stages of life. The rooms were arranged from east to west with the same process which we measure time. In the east, the room was blue as day and the western room was black as if the sun had set hours ago. The rooms were not arranged so one could see completely into the future rooms. Poe stated," The apartments were so irregularly disposed that the vision embraced but little more than one at a time. There was a sharp turn at every twenty or thirty yards, and at each turn a novel effect." I think Poe shows that the path of life is not easily predictable. Each stage was different and had "a novel effect". The windows in each room were colored the same as room it looked upon except the windows in the black room. The windows in this room cast a scarlet hue on the giant ebony clock on the western wall. Poe used this color to link the relationship of time and death. The ebony clock at the end of the seven rooms signified the end of life. If it was possible to look through all seven rooms and see the clock on the wall it would be the same as looking down the barrel of a gun and finding the bullet of a timely but certain death. The hourly bellow of the clock ceased the orchestra and a brief discontent overcame the courtiers as if time had stopped. The clock reminded everyone hourly that the end was getting closer. Poe wrote," the musicians of the orchestra were constrained to pause, momentarily, in their performance, to hearken to the sound; and thus the waltzers perforce ceased their evolution's; and there was a brief disconcert of the whole gay company; and, while the chimes of the clock yet rang, it was observed that the giddiest grew pale, and the more aged and sedate passed their hands over their brows as if in confused reverie or meditation." When the chiming stopped everyone returned to the comfort of the warm music and laughter. The night grew older and the party proceeded towards the black room. No one dared to set foot on the black carpet. The clock struck midnight and the music stopped. Everyone then became aware of the presence of a "masked figure which had arrested the attention of no individual before". The prince did everything he could to keep the red death away. He protected the courtiers and himself behind " A strong and lofty wall". "This wall had gates of iron. The courtiers, having entered, brought furnaces and massy hammers and welded the bolts." Poe proved that the prince tried to have everything inside the walls to survive by saying, "The external world could take care of itself. The prince had provided all the appliances of pleasure." Only until the last stroke of the twelfth hour did the prince feel the safety of the magnificent walls of the castellated abbey. On the last stroke of midnight the strange figure appeared in the black room in the shadow of the ebony clock. When the prince saw this mockery he demanded the mask be removed to unveil the soon to be hung guest. The prince, armed with a dagger, followed the figure into the black room. Poe wrote," There was a sharp cry ?and the dagger dropped gleaming upon the sable carpet, upon which instantly afterwards, fell prostrate in death the Prince Prospero." Death had struck the prince's masque. The courtiers then attacked the tall figure whom stood in the shadow of the clock. "Then, summoning the wild courage of despair, a throng of revelers at once threw themselves into the black apartment, and, seizing the mummer, whose tall figure stood erect and motionless in the shadow of the ebony clock, gasped in unutterable horror at finding the grave-cerements and corpse-like mask which they handled with so violent a rudeness, untenanted by any tangible

Greek Winter Solstice Celebrations in Honor of Poseidon
Greek Winter Solstice Celebrations in Honor of Poseidon Solstice (from the Latin sol sun) celebrations honor the sun. At the summer solstice in late June, there is no dearth of the sun, so celebrants just enjoy the extra hours of daylight, but by the winter solstice in late December, the days are much shorter as the sun sets earlier. Winter solstice celebrations often include two activities related to the failing sun: producing light and enjoying the cover the darkness provides. Thus, it is common for winter solstice celebrations to include candle lighting, bonfire creation, and drunken debauchery. Poseidon and the Winter Solstice In Greek mythology, the sea god Poseidon is one of the most lascivious of the gods, producing more children than many other gods. Greek calendars varied from polis to polis, but in some Greek calendars, a month around the time of the winter solstice is named for Poseidon. In Athens and other parts of ancient Greece, there is a month that roughly corresponds with December/January that is named Poseideon for the sea-god Poseidon. Despite the fact that the Greeks were the least likely to sail during these months, they held a celebration in Athens called Posidea to celebrate Poseidon. Haloea and Womens Rites At Eleusis there was a festival called Haloea on the 26th of the month Poseideon. The Haloea- a festival for Demeter and Dionysus- included a procession for Poseidon. The Haloea is thought to have been a time for merriment. There is mention of a womens rite in connection with this holiday: Women are provided with wine and food, including cakes in the shapes of sexual organs. They withdraw to themselves and exchange scurrilous banter, and are teased with suggestions of promiscuity whispered in their ears by the priestesses. [p.5] The women are thought to have stayed secluded throughout the night and then to have joined the men the next day. While the women were off eating, drinking, and sounding much like the women of Lysistrata, the men are thought to have created a big pyre or a bunch of little bonfires. Poseidonia of Aegina The Poseidonia of Aegina may have taken place in the same month. There were 16 days of feasting with rites of Aphrodite concluding the festival. Like the Roman festival of Saturnalia, the Poseidonia became so popular it was extended so that Athenaeus makes it 2 months long: In sum, the celebrants feast to satiety, then turn to lascivious teasing. What is the ritual purpose of such conduct? It obviously suits Poseidons mythical reputation as the most lustful of gods, who far surpasses Apollo and Zeus in the number of his liaisons and his offspring. Poseidon the seducer is god of springs and rivers[...] Source Poseidons Festival at the Winter Solstice, by Noel Robertson, The Classical Quarterly, New Series, Vol. 34, No. 1 (1984), 1-16.

Sustainable Development Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Sustainable Development - Essay Example From a historical perspective, the decisions made by our forefathers with regards to rapid industrialization and development without considering the resulting impact on the environment continue to have a severe impact on numerous ecosystems even today (Stefanovic, 2006). Similarly, the economic decisions and policies our governments make today will have an impact on the worldââ¬â¢s sustainability and growth in the future. The above points clearly suggest that sustainable development depends on the cooperation between various societal, economical, governmental, environmental and cultural aspects. As such, sustainability should not be perceived as a homogeneous concept. In fact, planning and achieving sustainability in any tangible manner is a complex process that is based on some broad principles. The introduction of the Brundtland report and its extensive coverage of sustainability have had an influential role in shaping future laws on environmental conservation and protection in many countries and international agreements (Wallace, 2005). Sustainable development and policy continues to face numerous challenges from various corners. Amongst these, the existence of poverty within a large part of the worldââ¬â¢s population poses a serious challenge. The planet is estimated to reach a total population of 7 billion people in 2011, which implies a greater competition and struggle for growth and control of the earthââ¬â¢s limited resources (Cowie, 2007). People belonging to developing and poor nations are facing prolonged shortages of food, water and access to basic civic amenities. The past few decades have witnessed the emergence of new countries experiencing tremendous economic growth. Rapid development in countries like China and India has increased the demand for oil and other non-renewable fuels and is likely to increase the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Fragile places like Antarctica are likely to bear the most serious consequences if these trends are not controlled through sustainable means (Ekins, 2005). Another issue impeding sustainable development is the lack of economic growth in some countries, especially those in Africa. Many countries like Zimbabwe have faced years of economic depression due to oppressive regimes and lack of proper government. Several multilateral agreements have emerged out of the guidelines recommended by the Brundtland report. One among these is the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Known as UNFCCC in short, this is an environmental agreement signed by various countries at the UN Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 (Wallace, 2005). The primary goal of this agreement is to restrict the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and stabilize their concentrations at an acceptable level that can prevent any serious interference with climatic patterns. However, this treaty suffers from several deficiencies, most notably its non-binding attribute which does not provide any mandatory limits that signatories have to maintain. Further, there are no enforcement

SHORT LISTENING ASSIGNMENT FORMAT Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
SHORT LISTENING ASSIGNMENT FORMAT - Essay Example group of musicians like the group of three trumpeters, saxophonists, and trombone players and the soloists like the pianist or cellist or the drummer take turns to improvise the piece based on what was performed by the musician(s) before him. Riff refers to short relaxed phrases being repeated over varied melodies. In this piece the complex riff structure in the head arrangements or collaborative arrangement that was memorized and not written down. The visual appeal in the video is remarkable. The video displays the musiciansââ¬â¢ prowess and their rhythmic motions to the music mark the beginning of the swing era. The swing music was gaining popularity at the time and the Jazz Big Bands were a reflection of the times. The trumpet solo was very significant. The musician starts from low tone and displays a wide range in tone during his solo. He is preceded by the saxophone soloist and succeeded by the piano solo. The trumpet lends to the bouncy beat and light mood of the music piece and is very well placed in the sequence. The visual elements as discussed previously is enhanced with the lighting effects where the lights fall on each sectional as they play out their piece starting with saxophone players, the trombones and their head motions imitating the music and then the section of trumpet players. The One Oââ¬â¢Clock Jump ends with all the players playing a repetitive phrase with variations in tone and melody and the catchy beat almost like a dance beat lends to the charm of the song. Why this jazz song became so popular is not difficult to understand. The overall performance is quite astounding. The light and fluffy rhythm has an energetic feel that is easy to swing to and uplifts the mood instantly. The complex riffs played out by the ensemble is very melodious and the sequences played out all seem to fit in perfectly and hence it is no wonder why it has come to be considered as one of the best songs of the

Changing the age of gambling Essay Example for Free
Changing the age of gambling Essay Everyone has gambled something in their life; it could be betting your baseball cards to see who can eat the most slices of pizza, or who is paying for soft drinks as each races to the nearest QuikTrip when you were kids. But why at the age eighteen, when we are considered adult citizens, do they restrict our rights to gamble in most casinos? If they restricted our rights to gamble, what would be next on their agenda? We need to put a stop to it now, by taking that step to re-evaluate the gambling age at twenty-one. The legalization of gambling at the age of eighteen would bring unity throughout the states, state revenue, and job opportunities. If the United States legalizes the age of gambling to eighteen it would unify all the states and discard all confusion about the age of gambling. Our neighbor from the north, Canada, has legalized gambling to the age of eighteen and prospered vastly from it. Currently, there are casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, etc. that are for the ages of twenty-one. But on the contrary, there are currently casinos on cruises and Indian reservations that are for the ages of eighteen (United 22). If America wanted to set an example for all the countries around the world, they must show more consistency with their own policies. Changing the age of gambling uniformly throughout the states has more benefits than disadvantages. The main argument against changing the gambling age was the addiction that it would bring to the people. The addiction of gambling would ruin lives and bring separation between their families (Morris 14). But why all of sudden does the government care about ruining peoples lives and separation between families? Take for instance, all the lives the government ruined through wrongfully accusing victims that are sitting in prison for no apparent reason. Also, look at how unjust that as an eighteen year old adult can serve for our country and risk their lives by being separated from our family but are still not allowed to gamble. The government does not need to put so much restriction on the minor problems, with this resolution it would allow them to focus on the major issues in the United States today. The unification of the gambling age like Canada has vastly increased the economy with casinos. Gambling in Canada has a net economic benefit that was equivalent to $3. 044 billion in 1995, up from $526 million in the 1990 economy (Council 3). Casinos in Las Vegas made $6. 1 billion in revenue since the first one opened (Council 5). Las Vegas revenue would easily triple if the legal gambling age was changed to eighteen. There tends to be casinos on Indian reservation that was for eighteen year olds and seemed very busy. Not only do they make money, but a large amount of the money was made from eighteen year olds who are attracted from surrounding cities according to one of the blackjack dealers. When the Aztar Casino opened up in Evansville, Indiana, gambling opponents feared that it would increase crime rates and encourage prostitution in the state. One would almost say that they were disappointed when their prophecies didnt prove true (Morris 19). The statistics have failed to support either the claim that the casino has caused a crime increase or any other negative expectations. As more states allowed gambling casinos in the past decade, the consensus was that casinos lowered the crime rate in the communities in which they were located. Lobbyists, developers and management pointed to studies showing dips in the crime rate after a flurry of casino construction in the 1990s (Morris 19). Casinos would become busier with the change of age to legally gamble and in return hire more positions. The gambling industry has become a major employer in most provinces in Canada, employment in the gaming industry increased from 11,900 to 39,200, an increase of 330% (Earl 7), and in Las Vegas every casino has at least 4000 employees (Earl 8). According to the 2000 census, there are about 1. 1 million eighteen year olds in the United States. Casinos would gain more business and hire more employees because of the increased business. People gambled for a variety of reasons, whether for a break from their daily lives, the thrills of the chase, or the challenge of beating the odds. Gambling should not be restricted to a certain age or to a certain area. If we legalized the age of gambling to eighteen we would bring unity throughout the states. Changing the gambling age to eighteen could maximize the states revenues through people being employed and people constantly visiting. There should be a change of the gambling age to eighteen because this policy would restrict and violate our rights as citizens within the United States. Electronic Health Record Essay -- Information Technology
After decades of paper based medical records, a new type of record keeping has surfaced - the Electronic Health Record (EHR). EHR is an electronic or digital format concept of an individualââ¬â¢s past and present medical history. It is the principle storage place for data and information about the health care services provided to an individual patient. It is maintained by a provider over time and capable of being shared across different healthcare settings by network-connected information systems. Such records may include key administrative and clinical data relevant to that persons care under a particular provider. Examples of such records may include: demographics, physician notes, problems or injuries, medications and allergies, vital signs, medical history, immunizations, laboratory data, radiology reports and billing information (www.cms.gov). The EHRââ¬â¢s purpose can be understood as a complete record of patient encounters that automates access to information and has t he potential to streamline the clinician's workflow in a healthcare setting. It also has the ability to support other care-related activities directly or indirectly through various interfaces, including evidence-based decision support, quality management, and outcomes reporting (www.cms.gov; ââ¬Å"Electronic Health Recordsâ⬠, 2010). One of the main purposes of the EHR is to improve and strengthen the relationship between clinicians and their patients. It also is an attempt to reduce patient suffering due to medical errors and aid healthcare workers to make better decisions in providing quality care. How to Establish Relationships with Chn and Young People
Describe how to establish respectful, professional relationships with children and young people. As a teaching assistant, the job involves working with young people. In order to establish respectful and professional relationships with these individuals, you should consider all of the children and the range of abilities. To develop a positive working relationship with the pupils, principles and values need to be understood in order for a professional relationship to be formed.Ensuring that the welfare of pupils is at the centre of the school is a key principle that needs to be majorly considered, if not this could seriously affect the relationship between a TA and child as the main needs will not be met. However, as individuals are at different development stages to their peers it means that different appropriate behaviour is needed. An example of this is by the use of empowering pupils through play and learning; however the lower ability of the child means that the child will need mo re assistance, and the activity will need to include more play learning.Instead of the childââ¬â¢s academic needs being the most important, the principle of ensuring physical and personal safety for the child within the working environment is also key. Without the assurance of the childââ¬â¢s safety and well-being, it could lead the child to contribute less towards the activity. Linking back to different needs of children, as a responsible adult itââ¬â¢s important to respect every pupil as an individual. If a group of children are perceived as ââ¬Å"the sameâ⬠it could seriously affect the children, they could be less willing to take part in activities and also they will feel as if theyââ¬â¢re lacking individual encouragement. As well as this, to establish a respectful relationship with children and young people itââ¬â¢s important to show considerate and caring attitude towards the children. If the teaching assistant implies that they are solely interested in the work, it will allow the children to become unfocused and distracted. However, if the teaching assistant shows a caring attitude towards each individual it could put the child more at ease, and also could allow the child to become more interested within the task. Overall, as long as the teaching assistant is approachable and willing to listen to pupils, as well as being able to give time to the children then this will help to develop a suitable working relationship. As a result of this, it will help the children to communicate as they will be seen as a valued person.

...Divorced, Beheaded, Survived â⬠by Robin Black - 1263 Words
Opgave A ...Divorced, Beheaded, Survived ââ¬â by Robin Black This is a short story written in a unique and curious setting, allowing you to see the world of an ordinary family whose lives have been affected by the deaths of their friends more than is fair. The story grasps some of the problems that death can bring upon a family which an average person may, or may not be aware of. Below, I will analyze and interpret Robin Blackââ¬â¢s curiously written short story about the unnamed narrator and how the impact of her younger days has affected her and her sonââ¬â¢s life. The short story is from 2010. The short story,ââ¬â¢ â⬠¦Divorced, Beheaded, Survivedââ¬â¢, is about an unnamed mother, who reflects her life as a past-tense narrator throughout the whole text. Theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In case this theory is right, she may fear for her son, who, even though weââ¬â¢re not told much about him, seems to be a boy who takes his studies seriously: ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢d known about the party. We are not told about Markââ¬â¢s studies afterwards, however, only that he asks his mother how the death of her brother was. This scene is curious, but also arguably annoying. Robin Black had decided not to reveal in which way Mark asks her mother or how he reacts when he is handed the picture of Terry. The lack of emotional feelings envelops this scene and itââ¬â¢s as if even though weââ¬â¢re being narrated through the event by the mother, weââ¬â¢re still far away from the actual scene. One could find that something here is amiss. We may not know in which way Mark reacts upon the answer of his mother ââ¬â itââ¬â¢s up to the reader. Where this short story can relate to real life, is the fact that people sometimes tend to lose contact with their associates w hen someone near themselves die. What this short story almost purposely stages for, is how the closest relatives will specially need the attention of their friends. One may wonder if Markââ¬â¢s position over the events of Peterââ¬â¢s death is the same as the friends of the narratorââ¬â¢s. Racial Discrimination Black Lives Matter Essay - 2187 Words
We are living in a time where being African-American comes with many persecutions. Movements such as ââ¬Å"Black Lives Matterâ⬠have shown us that racial discrimination is a real threat to the African American population, even in the 21st century. This leaves many communities marginalized and disenfranchised. In the case of Kendra, we can acknowledge that she too has faced discrimination not just due to the fact that she is African-American but also because of her sexual orientation. For Kendra, we can assume that she may suffer from low self-esteem. Her increase in weight and her lack of interest in social interactions also hints at symptoms of depression. After her accident, Kendra also exhibits symptoms of PTSD. I understand that most of her present symptoms may be a result of her recent car accident and the break-up with her girlfriend. Additionally, one has to take the clientââ¬â¢s culture and sexual orientation into consideration in order to better help her through thi s difficult phase in her life. Since I come from a different culture than my client, it is important to become aware of differences in cultural norms and avoid making assumptions based on oneââ¬â¢s own culture. Therefore, I read the chapter on Counseling African Americans in the textbook ââ¬Å"Counseling the Culturally Diverseâ⬠. The book cites Jonesââ¬â¢ (1985) study, which argues that one must look at four factors when counseling African Americans: racial oppression, influence of Afro-American culture, influence of majority ofShow MoreRelatedThe Black Lives Matter Movement Essay1280 Words à |à 6 Pagestoday. Spring Awakening at the University of Illinois at Urbana â⬠Champaign Essay Example For Students
Spring Awakening at the University of Illinois at Urbana ââ¬â Champaign Essay Question One In your opinion, why did the theatre department at UIUC choose to produce the rock musical, Spring Awakening? Response I think the Theatre Department chose to produce Spring Awakening for several reasons. First of all, it is a very creative and influential work in the history of musical theatre and theatre, which also won tons of significant awards in the realm of theatre (like Tony Award) and music (like Grammy Award). In my opinion, the Theatre Department produce Spring Awakening to emphasize its artistic value and influence, and to show respect to this great piece of art at the same time. Secondly, I think Theatre Department produces Spring Awakening to present the audience (mostly students at UIUC) the charm of musicals, which is considered to be the most popular type of theatre in Broadway and even across the nation. Since many of us may not have a chance to go to Broadway, producing Spring Awakening here offers us a chance to appreciate a great musical more conveniently. Last but not least, the conceptual meaning of this play is still worthwhile for adolescents and their parents today to learn about. Although the historical background for this play is late 19th century in Germany, many of the conceptions that the playwright wanted to convey, for example, sexuality, violence, domestic abuse, abortion, homosexuality and suicide are still essential issues for adolescents and young adults today. A majority of the obstacles, ambiguities and pursuits of the characters in the performance are still major problems of many youngsters nowadays, which lack of good solutions. As for a specific example, when Moritz was told that he failed the final exam, his after reacted him with disdain, blame and contempt rather can care and inspiration, which is part of the reason of Moritzs suicide. Today, there are still many adolescents who commit a suicide because they are not able to cope with the stress from failure at school and blames from their parents/teachers. I went to see the performance on Moms weekend and I noticed that there was many parents watching attended this production. Producing Spring Awakening offers a chance for parents to know more about their children, and for adolescents/youngsters in the university to know more about themselves and how to deal with major problems in their lives. Question Two What do you feel this production of Spring Awakening communicated to the audience? Support your conclusions with specific examples. Response First of all, it showed the audience the power and charm of musicals. The live singing performance and live orchestra have produced amazing effects. By letting the characters sing out their internal thoughts, all the audience get to understand the nature of the characters better. The audience can feel the characters conflicts, pains, desires, desperations and confusions more deeply. This production has presented the audience about how overwhelming and impressive a musical can be. Last but not least, it communicated to the audience with the need for concentrations on, but not limited to the problems of sex educations among adolescents. In this production, the school emphasized a lot on Latin proficiency but not sex educations, although the latter one is the real concerns of the students and much more important for the adolescents, which partly resulted in the death of Wendla. It is worthwhile because we still have the same problems today. Many adolescents are told by their parents not to attempt to have sex with their romantic partners, but what they are untold is why? and how?. However marking sex as a taboo cant stop adolescents curiosity. .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 , .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .postImageUrl , .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 , .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2:hover , .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2:visited , .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2:active { border:0!important; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2:active , .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2 .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ua682086e79bee52d6b1780cf10100bf2:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Giants of the Arts Research Paper EssayMany of them try without knowing how ?, which can lead to serious problems like teenage pregnancy. If we can provide adequate sex educations at home and at schools for teenagers, they will be better at coping their confusions and less likely to engage in dangerous behaviors. Moreover, when I say not limited to ?, I mean that simply concluding this production as a call for sex education ? is not adequate. In fact, the production should be expected to be much higher in richness and complexity. Besides the need for sex education, it also conveyed other controversial and sensitive problems like homosexuality, suicide, violence and so on, and it went much further than simply presenting these problems. It showed how adolescents think about these problems deep in their heart (by singing), and contrasted/compared the internal thoughts with external behaviors (like the girls teasing each other about marrying the boys in town, and how they present in front of their parents). It reprimanded the school and parents for the lack of adequate care/instructions, ignorance and stupid behaviors, like Wendlas mother sent Wendla to abortion surgery, which resulted in Wendlas death. It also presented the adolescents (attempted) rebellions, bravery explorations, and free spirit, though some explorations, like unprotected sex and suicide, are wrong. In short, it conveyed further more than sex education. It reveals the nature of multiple issues and somewhat complimented some explorations of the adolescents, which stands for the desire for free spirit. Question Three What appealed to you about the production and why? Response I like the production mostly because it is a musical. I never attended a music performance and I never knew how much I might love a musical until I attended this production. The songs in the production are mainly for presenting internal psychological activities of the characters and I really like this form of presentation. I think by singing all the psychological activities out, the willingness, desires, pains, and confusions of all the characters are presented much more strongly and impressively than simply by using languages and body movements. When I heard all the internal thoughts of the characters from the lyrics, I felt great empathy and resonance with them since I also met the same problems and confusions as I grew up. Whats more, I personally think all the actors sung really great, and even much better than many popular singers nowadays. The whole production is also a wonderful live concert. All the songs have beautiful tones and thoughtful lyrics. I particularly like the main character Wendla and the song Mama Who Bore Me ? since her voice is so beautiful. Another factor that appealed to me is the bold and inviting nature of this production. I like this production because it has presented all the conflicts in such a direct, bold, and sensitive way. I like all the bold depictions of a series of adolescence problems â⬠sex, abortion, homosexuality, suicide, and so on, of the accusing of parents and schools ignorance, and of the childrens brave rebellions and free spirit. I really respect the original author of this production, Frank Wedekind, for bringing about so many controversial problems in his time that are even still difficult to address nowadays. I respect Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik for making Wedekinds original work into such an influential musical in Broadway, nationally and bringing all the controversial issues to Broadway, to the nation and even to the world. All these creators have kept the bold and inviting nature of this production. They are trying to describe every problem as directly and deeply as they can and I think thats what the society really needs. Spring Awakening has offered a chance for all the people (especially adolescents and their parents) to see all the problems and the consequences of these problems in a very direct way. .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 , .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .postImageUrl , .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 , .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328:hover , .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328:visited , .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328:active { border:0!important; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328:active , .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328 .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub0061313f43d1da9d57d5ef404c0d328:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Of Mice ; Men EssayFor example, we may never know how regretful a suicide can be until we see the character Moritz did that on stage. All these bold and direct depictions, in my opinion, should have greater impacts on the audience and the society as a whole than other indirect ones, since these depictions somewhat push ? the society to face the problems and their consequences and natures (i. e. where do they come from and how teenagers think about these). And only when the society can face the existence of the problems and know the nature of these problems, we can start generating adequate solutions.
